The setting ablaze of Fort Saint-Louis - A magical spectacle in the heart of Toulon
A not-to-be-missed summer event in Toulon, combining fireworks, heritage and visual magic.
Every year on 15 August, Toulon celebrates the Feast of the Assumption with a spectacular and eagerly-awaited event: the setting ablaze of Fort Saint-Louis. This highlight of the summer festivities attracts thousands of spectators who come to admire the magnificent fireworks display fired from this historic site overlooking the Mediterranean.
As night falls, the Fort Saint-Louis literally lights up, as if its ancient stones were on fire, in an impressive pyrotechnic display combining colourful sprays, dancing rockets, lighting effects and rhythmic sounds. The façade of the fort becomes a living canvas, in perfect harmony with the starry sky and the sparkling reflections on the sea.
From the beaches of Mourillon and the surrounding quayside, the public can enjoy an exceptional vantage point to admire this explosion of light and colour that sets the harbour ablaze. It's a festive, poetic and spectacular moment, combining tradition, heritage and wonder.
